It's a symbolic clock decided upon by a panel of scientists.
It's meant to be a warning to show how close to the end of the world we are, with midnight symbolizing the apocalypse.

It's not meant to be a literal countdown, so just because it's at 3 minutes to midnight, that doesn't mean that the world is going to end in 3 minutes.

They take into account all of the wars happening in the world, famine, weather events, etc.
For instance, if it was discovered that an asteroid was on a collision course with this planet and that it would wipe out all life on Earth, the Doomsday clock would be moved to midnight.
If there were a chance it would miss, it would be 30 seconds to midnight.

It's just a symbol which is meant to inform people that we need to change our ways, it's not meant to scare people, despite its ominous name.

Not sure, but I've heard that global warming could possible end human life by 2024

I'm not sure how, but that's what I heard

That's awesome, I don't pay attention to a lot of social media or news so I completely missed this clock.

Whilst it takes into account all of the negative incidents, things, which could see humanity fall, they don't really seem to consider the chances of things not happening, like with the Zika virus, they're probably considering that as somehting else contributing to the worlds demise but they won't consider if a cure, preventitive could come out. The scientists behind it are very negative people who want everyone to destroy all technology and live off of the earth and natural things.

Personally, as i'm sure you can see, i don't believe in it one bit.
