I'm getting sick are freaking tired whenever something awful happens in the world we make a huge deal about it.For example the shooting in south carolina because of the something about a 21 year old and the confederate.Oh let me guess, because he shot up a church because he supported confederate or whatever " sorry i don't know the whole story because i don't give a crap what happens in the news ".And now the confederate flag is considered racist ? oh please...Now Kentucky is trying to remove jefferson davis from Government building.. SO what's wrong with it oh let me guess.because of slavery ? I'm pretty sure the civil war had more to it then that..Just like how Germany is trying to remove Nazi's from history. YOU CAN'T NOT REMOVE THINGS FROM HISTORY SO FREAKING STOP JESUS FUGGING A MY GOD I'M SICK OF THIS BULL CRAP.

This debate almost always comes down to whether or not the Civil War was fought with either slavery being a major part in it, or a minor part.
Proponents for the maintaining of the flag argue that it was a minor issue, while proponents of its removal argue that it was a major issue.
For some reason people seem to think that this makes a difference.
To me it is nothing but a straw man to distract from the real issue.

Any flag which supports slavery - strongly or not - doesn't deserve to be flown, especially at public buildings where the tax-payer should be able to decide.
It's not about removing history, Jefferson Davis will still be taught about in schools, he can still be found in libraries.
A statue is more than just a piece of information, it venerates him and what he stood for, including slavery, as does the Confederate flag.

I disagree with Germany's decisions to make the Nazi flag illegal, that is a violation of freedom of speech and expression, in my opinion.
If they held votes which determined that Nazi flags shouldn't be displayed on public buildings alone that would be fine with me, and that is all that these protesters want in America.
They want a flag which doesn't support slavery flying above or on their public buildings.

That is their right.

I'm all for people who want to show off the confederate flag, but I can't rationalize why it should wave on a government building.

"Judge me based off my choices, not the choices of my ancestors" - me

You cant change history, its already happened and no matter what you change someone will always know the truth.

Reminds me of "It is our choices, that show who we truly are". From a fictional book but point still stands.

@Vox (not quoting all of that)

If those two flags were on an equal field, I would. They both had a bad history. One is still an official flag though. One still has the chance to represent something good, something better than it once was. The other is a relic from a lost and defeated cause. Anyway, we can actually be consistent. The Confederate flag isn't banned. If you want to fly it, then fly it. When it comes to government property, no.

I see why this bothers people but it's simple to ignore.
