I read a book in grade 7, it was a fairly average book, not too hard and not too easy.

The thing is, I really don't like reading books.

So here's what's happening.

Every time I get a "Book assignment" where I have to read a book and answer a bunch of questions, do a summary,
write a response, complete certain tasks...etc I've always used that same book, every single year. I'm in grade 10 now, by the way.

What I'm trying to say is, I'm too lazy to read a new book so I keep using the same book
to avoid reading a new one and to make the assignments 100x easier.

What makes it even worse is that I ended up buying the exact same book, but in french
so I wouldn't have to read a book in french when I got a similar assignment in french class.

I haven't read a new book, other than the ones we're forced to read, for about 3 years and counting.

Has anyone ever done something similar to this? Is this a bad thing to do?

Thanks.

I would probably do the same if that's how the UK curriculum worked. Nice logic though.

I mean its fine, but at the same time you won't really improve at reading / writing if you are doing the same assignment over the years.

I'd probably do that same when I was in school ( Im only 18 been out a year )
I had a couple book assignment sort of things and I just googled what the book was about and nearly copied that, im just not the type of book guy I can't really be bothered reading it unless its really interesting to me.

I'm more concerned that your teacher just allows you to read whatever you want. Your teachers don't sound too smart. lol

Yep, you should see the other teachers, too. Half the class all they do is talk about their families and their weekends.

I feel like the way the teachers in my school were hired was from pulling names out of a hat and assigning them a classroom.

It's not a bad thing really, work smarter, not harder.

In the same sense though, you could try picking up a book about a subject you're interested in. It makes reading seem less of a chore.

Personally, I enjoyed reading American Sniper because I can relate and it's easy to read.
