I was wondering can you watch movies from a USB on the Xbox One like you could on the 360 because now that it supports external HDD i thought you would be able to.

You should be ok now since the lastest update:
External storage now supported
Supports up to two external hard drives at once. Hard drives must be
USB 3.0
256 GB or larger
Install, download or transfer games and content to a portable HD for easy mobility between consoles.
Ability to manage content between internal and external storage
Playing films shouldn't be problem

Okay thanks for the reply but where would i go to find the USB with the films on ? like on the 360 you could just go too videos and movies then system player and it would show the device i cant find it on the xbox one.

Ok i've just done some more research into it and they only seem to support external drives for storage and not so you can run media from it...so thats that idea out of question.
You may be able to stream it from your PC...if you wanted to look into doing that

Its the same with PS4 dude you cant use a USB for media at the moment it sucks!

Thats in a later update but for now you can use the onedrive app its a virtual usb that holds 10gbs thats what ive been using and just swapping them out from my pc

What I do is I have the movie on my Samsung galaxy s4 and I wirelessly stream it from my phone to the Xbox which is pretty cool

Any reason why you can't plug in your computer/laptop to your tv?
