i want one, wasnt there something einstein said that in order to travel in time we would had to travel faster than the speed of light? might be mumbo jumbo from my head but that is an interesting thought.

Well considering it's just a design, obviously it's not. The title doesn't say 'Prototype'.

This probably won't happen for thousands and thousands of years if at all. It is impossible for anything to break the light speed barrier as Einstein showed.

As v------>c then m-----> infinity.

Still cool to think about though.

Impossible because once you reach the speed of light, light becomes matter and matter becomes light so therefore you would disappear.

I am surprised they even started designing for this kind of stuff.
This early I thought it would be another 20 years.

It is shown how, within the framework of general relativity and without the introduction of wormholes, it is possible to modify a spacetime in a way that allows a spaceship to travel with an arbitrarily large speed. By a purely local expansion of spacetime behind the spaceship and an opposite contraction in front of it, motion faster than the speed of light as seen by observers outside the disturbed region is possible. The resulting distortion is reminiscent of the warp drive of science fiction.

Really interesting, after all these years of scientists saying "faster then light is impossible" we may actually be able to do it in the future.
I believed all along that we could travel faster than the speed of light, its just that we aren't evolved enough to understand such a thing so we class it as impossible.

Well the amount off money it will cost to fund the project will be huge. But it's pretty cool to think that one day we will be able to travel at the speed of light, if not faster, just hopefully it happens in our lifetime as it would be cool to see

What's hard to think about though is even though you are traveling at the speed of light...
It will still take 3-4 years to get to the next closest star.
