I need to be able to run 1.5Miles or 2.4Km in under 10:40 but i cant even run 1.5Miles in any time i dont even think i can 1.5Km so do you people og TTG have any ideas how i can run for longer and faster?

Run 1.5 miles every day.

Dont even think about the times.

Bout 2 weeks before you go to Glencorse then start pushing your times.

Also work on pull ups, pushups and holding a box at arms length.

Just start running and walking it. Don't worry about your time because you need to train to get ready for it. Eventually you will be able to do it like its nothing if you stick to it

Time yourself running 1.5 miles then try to improve your time.
A healthy dote will be beneficial to help you lose excess weight whilst regular training would be beneficial in Improving your cardiovascular fitness.

I trained with the Royal Marines and we had to do it in under that time, can't remember exactly how much .. It was last year

do what everyone else said and also train your legs, squats, lunges leg curls etc. good luck

Run as far as you can everyday bro and ride a bike and just train your legs up alot and your cardio.. Running and stuff sucks man when you first start doing it but if you do it for awhile that 1.5 mile run will feel like nothing

How much time do you have before you go?

Any fitness program needs to be started in a slow manner, that way you don't injure yourself. I don't mean to offend or insult you, I don't know your level of fitness, but wanted to make sure that you are careful.

You need to run farther than what is required. Remember that in the military, the time and distance standard is a MINIMUM requirement. You will run farther and faster, with that in mind you need to be ready for it.

As mentioned, don't worry about time at first, just run the distance. You can worry about time later on. The two main things that you need to worry about is speed and endurance.
Endurance
Run the distance, increase the distances as you get faster. alternate you distances with speed that will cause your system to change and adapt. A good addition to your work out can be swimming. This will increase your endurance, but is not a replacement for running.
Speed
A good way to increase your speed is to run "Telephone Pole Sprints". You can either do these on the road or at a track. On the road just pick out points that are equal space (such as telephone poles) and sprint from one to the next, return to a normal running speed for the next two poles then repeat the sprint. This will shock your cardio system and increase your speed. On the track just sprint the straights and run the curves on the track. When you have done it for a while start giving yourself time requirements and increase the distance of your sprints. Remember not to decrease your normal "run" speed.

Your running program needs to include the following:
slow/ extra long distance
Fast/short distance
Sprints
Med speed/ long distance
Stairs


I would invest in some good shoes. They can mean the difference between good fitness and pain.

Along with your running I would start an upper body workout routine. Concentrate on Push-ups, pull-ups and abdominal/core exercises. When you go to your initial training you will be hit hard in that area. If you are going to life weights I would concentrate on endurance/Reps and not Heavy weight. Lean and mean is the way to go.

Full disclaimer - I am from the US, but served for many years in the US Army. I have worked with several members of the UK MOD and have a very close friend that is a RM PTI that I sometimes work out with.

I've recently started to build my endurance by running. When I started I couldn't do much but I can do 5km-6km now in around 25-30minutes, I'm training for a 10k now. It's all about training just see what you can do one day and then try and make it a tad better/faster/longer next time you run, eventually you'll get better.


Casca makes a good point as well. Start by increasing your endurance and distance and pace can come later. I'm currently using nike+ to track my runs so you might want to invest in something like that to track your distance, speed, calories etc.

I never use to run since I ran 2miles in 17 mins at school I loved it just practice long distance running or run till you drop and then you will get stronger and better
