Dont-Tread-On-Me wrote I hear the same stuff everywhere. I'm 15 going to be 16 soon. If my dad ever heard of me acting like that, I'd be getting a good ole' a$$ whooping. Our generation is very lazy too. None will work a labor job.

"None". Well, that's just a lie. I've been working since I was 13 years old. I work almost every single night from 5pm until 11pm. Every so often, I get a night off and in Winter when my work place isn't busy, I do get quite a lot of time off. Fact is, not all of our generation are "lazy".

Anyway, on topic. I think the reason a lot(not all) of today's youth act like this, is because of what they see in T.V or how they see their elders act. A lot of younger kids, talk to some of the older people and see how they act. For example, where I live, a lot of the younger kids(10, 11, 12) will play football(soccer for you Americans) with some of the older people(16,17,18). They see how the older ones talk/act and hear about what the older ones do at weekends and parties and the younger ones think that is how they should act as well. Basically, bad role models..

Honestly, I think "this generation" of kids are the most intelligent, and the nicest generation in human history.

Before all of you people who love to bash our generation in an attempt to seem "different" downvote my post like crazy, read through the whole post first. I think we can all agree that as a race, humans have become much more aware, and much more knowledgeable within the past couple of hundred years. We've come from having knowledge limited to the hands of the few, into the hands of the general public. Science has grown and evolved, and we as humans know a lot more about our world, and a lot more about the people around us today than we have ever before. As a kid today, you have access to an unlimited amount of information with the internet, and that's something that no other generation before us truly had. We're becoming more socially aware of issues such as global warming, that previous generations have caused. We're discovering great things, and creating great new inventions, like a [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

In addition, we as a generation are also nicer and more socially accepting of others than the ones before us. Before our generation, restricting gay's rights was still considered to be socially acceptable by almost everyone else who wasn't gay. Remember that not long ago, slavery (in the US) was rampant, and even after slavery was abolished, discrimination against blacks ran for centuries more. In 2008, the US elected a black president. Women are slowly starting to reach parity with men in terms of pay. We're starting to evolve as a society to the point where we're not discriminating against those that are not like us, instead we're accepting those differences and realizing that they don't matter.

Honestly, every generation has "bad" people, not just ours. By focusing on the bad, you're clouding the good that this generation has.

i dont think its the parents or the kids that have made it to be what it is now. the reason why kids are growing up too fast is because the government want them too! the goverment have all to gain from young kids going out and spending money on taxed alcahol, taxed tobacco etc. I wouldnt say this generation has gone bad i'd say weve been poisoned by greedy money led corporate fat cats and poncy good for nothing politicians. im 16 and iv smoked weed since i was 12 drank since around 14 and recently started trying MDMA. im not trying to prove any other point than its fairly normal nowadays to have had those experiences at a younger age.

What we need to do to save the next generation is get rid of the source of the problem and teach our kids not to believe everything thats told to them by the government run mass media. They want us all to live pre planned lives and our generation growing up too fast is our sub concious rebellion.

W0t wrote Honestly its all about who they hang out with and their parents.

My parents kept me worried about if I ever acted up they will whoop me or ground me so I was always on my best behavior.

It's about who they hang out with as well because if you have your child hanging out with kids that do nothing but cuss and do bad things, you child will most likely acquire those behaviors.

This is why most of the time. It always has been and it most likely always will be.

SPEED wrote Every generation is the worst generation.

Guess what? Your parents were just as idiotic as you are.

Guess what else? You probably won't be talking about how much of an idiot you were when you were X years old, because everyone was.

There is no "this generation", it's every generation.

Kids are idiots.

Speed just nailed it.

I don't like several things about the younger generations (I'm a bit older than most here), but there are tons of things that I hate about my generation as well.

People will always think that they younger generations are
1. Out of control
2. Lazy
3. Losing their moral center
People will always think that the older generations are
1. Prudish/out of touch
2. Responsible for destroying the environment
3. Narrow minded

Lets face it, most people don't like things or people that aren't the same as they are. As Speed mentioned, you will change as you get older and have a different opinion of how young people think when you are older. Try writing down a complete list of what you believe in and what is right and wrong with society and the older generations. Store it in a safe place and open it up in 15 years and see if you feel the same way about the issues. On some you will still agree with your younger self, on others you will have a completely different opinion. Believe me, things change as you get older. Priorities shift and opinions change, everything is based off of your life experiences.
