Been bugged by all my friends to get outlast, got it, beat it in about 3 hours, played at 1 am with the lights off with a headset to "indulge in the experience" ... Didn't get scarred once. These big youtubers (not saying names) but hype up these horror games and make it seem so scary and really it's not even scary. Played amnesia, didn't get scarred once. I feel like outlast is just more bloody and like gory/graphic then it is actual scares. Jump scares are so cliche and lights flickering is just boring. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but I'm not sure if it's really a horror to me. I understand people get scarred but I guess I just don't get startled at mutated people jumping out at me when I can clearly predict it... The hype is built up to much.

I've played Outlast and I will admit, there were a few times I did jump because I keep my headsets always on very loud volume with highest bass and that is just too loud at times. Plus there were a few times when playing Outlast I would think something would happen, wouldn't, minute or so later, it happens and catches me off guard. As for the hype around it, I agree. I have seen some of the YouTubers you may be talking about who scream all the time at Outlast and take a very long time because they're "scared" to continue on. The game is good, yes, had it's moments, yes, but I don't think it's the "scariest game" and that sort of titles it's getting from the hype.

In-case you don't realize this; big YouTube (pewdiepie, syndicate and whoever else you are thinking) are all entertainers.

they make their content to entertain the viewers. you wouldn't sit there and watch someone play outlast who didn't jump once now would you?

There is a difference between screaming at the top of your lungs and honestly its probably over exaggerating, and then actually just being scarred and being worried. I watch Robbaz play cry of fear and he didnt scream at the top of his lungs and yes he did get scarred but he was also entartaing at the same time.... I've played outlast, Ill admit some parts of the game had me jumpy and shaky. I think the thrill of games like "Slender" are more creepy though, i think youtubers overthink these games for the views and etc...

Well I mean lets be honest why do people upload to youtube In the first place? And as for horror games being scary It all depends on what the person Is or Isn't scared of so yeah It won't be scary for everyone
