In-ear: Meelectronics line, such as the M6 or A151 BK.

Thanks, But do you know any with a bit of 'style' on them?

Anything that prioritizes looks on a budget sacrifices too much in terms of sound quality to be recommended by me. I suggest you take a look at the Brainwavz M2 or Visang RO3. They are identical IEMs, and I think they're really great looking. Style is totally subjective, though.

Your budget: The sky is the limit. I had beats and they were alright. Broke pretty fast though I'm looking for the best.

Which genres you'll be listening to: I'm all around. Hip-Hop, Rock, Rap, Alternative, you name it. I would like good bass though.

What kind you want (over-ear, on-ear, in-ear, no preference, etc.) and whether you want portability: I had the Tours in-ear and I did like them. I really want in-ear as over ears are either too big or fit awkwardly.

Whether you want open or closed headphones:
This really doesn't matter.

What you are listening from: 90% of the time, my iPhone. The other 10 would be from my laptop.

Thanks for taking the time.

I can't really do open-ended budgets, sorry. It's the most important factor when I recommend products. When you say the sky is the limit, I get all excited and think about the 30,000 dollar setup I mentioned earlier. I would have no problem recommending someone such a rig, and it would certainly change their entire outlook on art and life, but nobody actually has an unlimited budget. At least give me a ballpark to shoot for! I'll make sure you get something really nice.

Can't see how this topic is in anyway stupid. r00t_b33r clearly knows what he's talking about. He insists in not overpaying for terrible headphones. So in the long run he's giving the user a much more enjoyable experience for his money. You'd be surprised the sound quality when comparing some junk headphones with no sound card, vs a high quality pair with a nice sound card, such as this [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . That's just an example, but you know what I mean.

r00t_b33r, awesome thread.

Thanks! I have fun with it!

No problem!

Pretty much the Sennheiser IE8. Great for your music type and budget. Probably the best choice in that price range! The price has even come down quite a bit from what I remember!

If you want to spend a bit less, look at the IE7. Still a great choice at the rpice range, and for the same reasons. If you look around on Amazon, you can find the IE8i for a bit less. These IEMs also benefit from amping, but it is not necessary. To add an amp, you can use a Fiio L3 line out cable (or an L9, whatever you choose) to a portable amp. This bypasses the junk internal amplifier in the iDevice in favor of the external one. The external one is more powerful and of higher quality. For the IE8s, you would be good with a Fiio E11. If you want to go BIG, you could get a Headstage Arrow or TTVJ amp. They are more expensive, but will handle any IEM, including those in the thousands of dollars, just in case you upgrade. The E11 is so well-priced that I would go with it, though. Then again, see it if you like then sans amp!
