Mortal Kombat 1 Confirms Peacemaker Delay

4.2
Mortal Kombat 1 has finally lifted the lid on Peacemaker's release date, as it's been announced that he'll be added to the game's roster on February 28 later this month.

This news was announced via the Mortal Kombat 1 Twitter account, following the reveal that the game's Kombat League counter had been quietly extended by 23 days. NetherRealm has been very consistent in releasing new characters at the start of each new season, with both Omni-Man and Quan Chi being added at the start of Season 2 and 3 respectively. Season 4 was set to begin in a few days, but seems to have been delayed alongside Peacemaker to ensure a simultaneous release.

With Peacemaker's eventual arrival, we'll be halfway through the main fighters coming in Mortal Kombat 1's first Kombat Pack, with Ermac, Homelander, and Takahashi Takeda still to come. We also still have quite a few Kameo fighters to be included too, as we're still waiting for Ferra, Janet Cage, and Mavado, though it's likely these characters will drop mid-season like Khameleon did. We don't have any release dates for these characters just yet, but as with Peacemaker, we can probably expect one to drop at the end of Season 4.

Unfortunately, at this rate, it may not be enough to salvage the game's constantly spiraling reputation. With the success of Street Fighter 6, and now Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat fans have become more disgruntled than ever, which is made evident by the sheer amount of negative comments in the replies to Peacemaker's release date announcement. There are more than a few people mentioning Tekken 8 too, though that's probably to be expected since it's the new hotness at the moment.

Nobody cares, everyone is playing Tekken 8 now because you are too lazy to listen to the fans and don’t care about the game

In fact, Mortal Kombat fans are so infatuated by Tekken 8 at the moment that they're attempting to recreate characters with the game's customization options. Popular characters such as Leon Kennedy, Walter White, and Bayonetta were swiftly put together thanks to the game's in-depth cosmetic options, and it didn't take long for the likes of Mileena, Scorpion, and Stryker to follow suit.

Mortal Kombat 1 is clearly at risk of falling behind both Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8, especially the latter, as it's managed to attract a much more casual fanbase, an area that Mortal Kombat usually excels in. Hopefuly, the addition of PEacemaker and some more substantial content can turn the game's fortunes around, but we'll have to see whether it's enough to bring back the playerbase at large.
