PS4 Saw A Huge Increase In Sales During 2023

4.1
The PS4 is over 10 years old now, but the console is showing no signs of giving up the ghost just yet, with sales of Sony’s last-generation console jumping a staggering 633% year-on-year, according to the latest GSD figures.

Much like the PS5, the PS4 was affected by major console shortages in 2022, so it wasn’t until last year that PlayStaton hardware was able to bounce back after supply issues were resolved. The PS4 is also a solid entry point for new console gamers, seeing as how it’s available much cheaper nowadays and as a huge catalogue of games.

The PS4 was released in November 2013 in the US and UK, with a Japanese launch following in February 2014. As of March 31, 2022, the console has shipped 117.2 million units worldwide, with Sony discontinuing all models in Japan except the PS4 Slim in January 2021.
