Ed Boon Confirms Story DLC For Mortal Kombat 1

Speaking at CCXP, Ed Boon revealed that Mortal Kombat 1 will get an Aftermath-like story DLC sometime over the next few years.

Leakers have been sharing details on the follow-up story mode since launch, claiming it will focus on Sub-Zero and Scorpion as the two brothers continue to feud. Those same leakers claim that it will also follow the post-credits scene, wrapping up all of MK1's major loose ends.

Just like we did with Mortal Kombat 11, we're gonna release a second part with more story. We have a big surprise after that. We're gonna be supporting the game for even longer than we did for Mortal Kombat 11.

In the main story, Bi-Han (Sub-Zero) betrays Fire God Liu Kang and the Lin Kuei's oath to protect Earthrealm, using his clan as a means to gain power instead. His brother, Kuai Liang (Scorpion), leaves with Smoke to form the Shirai Ryu where they can continue the original purpose of the Lin Kuei.

At the end of the story, we also see the multiversal Titan Havik and his twisted roster of familiar faces set their sights on reality-bending domination. According to leakers, he will play a pivotal role in this Aftermath-like expansion.

We'll reportedly start the expansion at Kuai Liang's wedding with Harumi at the Wu Shi Academy. But of course, things never go smoothly around Harumi. Bi-Han and the Lin Kuei stage a surprise attack. Luckily, they're stopped in their tracks and taken prisoner, but while Scorpion and his new Shirai Ryui decide what to do with the traitors, Titan Havik and his Chaos Warriors attack.

Throughout the story, we'll find that Havik kidnapped Geras to manipulate other timelines. While doing so, he also creates a colosseum where he makes variants of the roster fight to the death. As such, Scorpion and the Lin Keui must bury the hatchet and team up to defeat Havik.

By the end of the DLC, Bi-Han, transformed into Noob Saibot, steps down as the leader of the Lin Keui, leaving Sektor to take his place as Grandmaster.

If leakers are to be believed, we're looking at a Lin Kuei-focused story spliced with Havik's multiversal crusade. As for the surprise Boon mentioned, we'll have to wait and see.
