At this point, a release date is really all that Tekken 8 is missing. While it's widely believed that the PS5 fighting game will launch in 2024 — preferably before Evo 2024, which takes place at the end of July — Bandai Namco hasn't been dropping any hints. What's more, the current Tekken World Tour — based around the aged Tekken 7 — is ongoing, and is set to end with a finals event in January.

Now, we could be handed a Tekken 8 launch date at said finals — it would be a great way for Tekken 7 to bow out and welcome its successor to the stage — but new evidence may just suggest that we're getting a date sooner than many anticipate.

As spotted by Twisted Voxel, Tekken 8 has received an age rating in South Korea. Such ratings often point towards some kind of imminent announcement, typically to do with release dates and pre-order information. But before you get too excited, this isn't always the case; the appearance of a rating is no guarantee, even if it does show that something is happening behind the scenes.

We're just connecting the dots here, but it's worth noting that Gamescom 2023 is fast approaching. The German convention begins next week, on the 22nd August, with Geoff Keighley's Gamescom Opening Night Live show. We can think of worse places to announce a release date...
