'Switch 2' Dev Kits Rumored To Have Reached A Certain Spanish Studio

4.2
A leaker is claiming that dev kits for the Nintendo Switch successor, often colloquially referred to as the 'Switch 2', have reached a Spanish studio. Though no additional details were provided to help add a bit of credibility to this leak, the information came from Twitter user Nash Weedle, who did accurately report on the existence of Metroid Dread prior to its official announcement from Nintendo.

Therefore, there is some level of credence to this reporting, and, if true, it suggests that the console's announcement is coming sooner than some may have thought. Nash Weedle is also Spanish, which aligns with them having some knowledge of Spanish studios, not only in regard to this new report but with their Metroid Dread leak (Metroid Dread was developed by MercurySteam, a Spanish studio).

With all this knowledge in mind, a reasonable assumption is that this studio, the one that allegedly has 'Switch 2' dev kits, is also MercurySteam, but this is nothing more than conjecture. In fact, it may be more likely that a different studio potentially let this dev kit information leak, as MercurySteam, being in such close connection with Nintendo, would probably be much more restrictive with this type of thing.

A Spanish YouTuber known as Behind the Games provided further information about this report via a recent video. He stated that he spoke to Nash Weedle, who further elaborated that this unknown Spanish studio is testing the dev kit with a Nintendo Switch Pro controller, as Nintendo is very adamant about its next console's new controller not leaking.

To reiterate, all of this is far from confirmed, however, if true, then it seems that Nintendo is planning something special with the 'Switch 2' controllers and that they won't simply be a slightly improved version of the current Joy-Cons. It also could mean that the current Switch Pro Controller will be compatible with the 'Switch 2', but that could just be a temporary feature specifically for dev kits.
