Apex Legends Could Finally Be Getting a Highly Requested Feature Soon

4.5
Respawn Entertainment could be preparing to introduce cross-progression in Apex Legends, according to datamined information found within the game files. While Season 17 of Apex Legends has brought a lot of exciting content to the battle royale, including a new Legend named Ballistic, the addition of cross-progression would doubtlessly be some of the biggest news to hit the game in a long time.

It is no secret that gamers have wanted Respawm Entertainment to add cross-progression to the game for several years. The possibility of the much-requested feature has been discussed since 2020, with various dev team members weighing in on the matter. In fact, one developer even claimed that cross-progression would be coming to Apex Legends in 2022, which ended up not happening. Instead, its release has remained uncertain, with some fans questioning whether it will ever become available. Fortunately, new details could mean the wait might be nearing an end for anxious fans.

Recently, new evidence has been revealed following the launch of the Dressed to Kill update, suggesting that the release of cross-progression for Apex Legends could be coming soon. This information comes from reliable dataminers AG240 and KralRindo, who discovered files in the game related to the feature. Specifically, these files contained what KralRindo described as “cross progression checks,” which were added for the UI, and they included a screenshot of several lines of code as evidence. Furthermore, AG420 shared the lines “CrossProgression_Enabled,” “CrossProgression_PlayerCardMaxNum,” and “CrossProgression_SetMainProfileErrorBlockLogin.”

Since posting their findings on Twitter, many members of the Apex Legends community have taken notice. The tweets from both dataminers have received hundreds of likes, with many players commenting on the prospect of the feature becoming available. Several noted how they were excited to be able to use skins and other cosmetics from one platform on another.

As the response to these tweets evidence, adding cross-progression to Apex Legends is doubtlessly an exciting prospect for many fans. Apex Legends launched at the beginning of 2019, and since then, many players have created multiple accounts on various platforms. The introduction of cross-progression would in theory mean that these players could transfer their accounts between these platforms. In addition, this would allow players to check out the game on other systems without worrying about their progression not coming with them.

It is worth pointing out that Respawn Entertainment has not officially announced when cross-progression will be added to the game. While uncovering game files related to the feature is an encouraging sign, it is still unclear when it will become available until the developer provides an update. Hopefully, an announcement from the developer regarding cross-progression will come soon for those anxious to utilize the feature in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
