Forza Horizon 1 and 2 Online Servers Are Being Shut Down on August 22

4
Developer Turn 10 has announced that the online servers for Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2 are being shut down on August 22. Once the servers have been shut down, online functionality like matchmaking and leaderboards will no longer be available.

The studio has stated, however, that both of the games will still be fully playable offline. Turn 10 states that it made the decision because of the age of both games, and the fact that both titles had small player populations.

It is also worth noting that, while it is no longer possible to buy the first two Forza Horizon games, those who did purchase them can freely download them again to play single-player content.

Online features for more recent games in the Forza Horizon franchise—specifically 3 and upwards—will continue to be available and the studio doesn’t seem to have plans to change that soon.

Turn 10 is currently focused on its most recent release, Forza Horizon 5 and its expansions, which hit a milestone of having had 30 million players in its lifetime earlier this year.

Forza Horizon 5 is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
