Atomic Heart DLC Adding Terrifying New Enemy

4.1
The developers behind the alternative history FPS Atomic Heart have just released a trailer featuring BEA-D, a new enemy that will be a part of the upcoming DLC 1. Despite some criticism regarding its dialogue and performance issues at launch, Atomic Heart‘s unique Soviet-era aesthetics, and interesting ideas were enough to gather interest for DLCs, and this one will be out this Summer.

Originally announced last month, the mysterious Atomic Heart DLC is only known as “DLC 1” at the moment. It’s set to be a full-fledged expansion that will add a new area with story content for the main campaign. In it, players will explore Installation 3826, which is surrounded by water and filled with secrets. According to the devs, this new area will have a greater emphasis on vertical exploration and will offer new challenges. Gamers can expect a few underwater segments and interesting new enemies to face.

The new trailer released by Mundfish teases a new enemy type called BEA-D, which is a part of the upcoming DLC 1. In the Atomic Heart video, it’s possible to see several small, round-shaped robots that do not look so menacing at first glance, but form a juggernaut that looks really terrifying when combined. According to the devs, these creatures will be part of a new enemy group, so players can expect to see many types of them, perhaps even with different combinations when they merge.

In addition to the brand-new DLC with these scary enemies, Mundfish is currently planning a sequel for Atomic Heart. At the moment, however, it’s not known how long fans will have to wait before the sequel is out. Considering Atomic Heart started its development in 2017 and was only just released in 2023, as well as the fact that the team is still focused on putting out DLCs, the sequel is probably at least a few years away.

Apart from new content, the base Atomic Heart game is still receiving updates. Last month, Mundfish released the 1.6.0.0 Atomic Heart patch. The update made a series of changes to improve the experience of gamers playing the title, such as several improvements in dialogue, as well as a modified FOV setting. So, players who didn’t play Atomic Heart at its launch will get the chance to play the best version of the game soon.

Atomic Heart is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Frog I really enjoyed this game for ten hours but now that I've mastered the combat, the story and characters just aren't interesting/we'll written and thought out enough for me to finish the game. Doubt I'll get round to playing this DLC unfortunately. Bummer.
