Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can play FIFA 23 in its entirety beginning Tuesday, May 16. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives subscribers access to all the vanilla Game Pass games, special perks, and the benefits associated with Xbox Live Gold, plus it comes with all the EA Play titles as well.

At one point in time, EA Play was a separate subscription on Xbox. Eventually, a deal was reached where EA Play would be folded into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, adding significant value to the priciest tier of Xbox's subscription service. A big selling point of Game Pass is the chance to play games on the day of their release, and while EA Play does offer free trials for its new releases, it doesn't give its subscribers untethered access to the games right away.

It usually takes between six months to a year for new EA games to be added to the EA Play lineup, and that's what's happening with FIFA 23. Come May 16, FIFA 23 will officially be a part of the EA Play lineup, in turn making it available to those who are signed up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. FIFA 23 is the latest installment in EA's long-running and extremely popular FIFA series of games, so it should be a significant addition to the Game Pass Ultimate library.

The confirmation that FIFA 23 is coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on May 16 helps paint a clearer picture as to what fans can expect from the service in the second half of the month. While Microsoft has detailed all the new Xbox Game Pass games for the first half of May 2023, it likely won't pull the curtain back on the second half of the month until early next week. However, previous release date announcements have clued fans in on what they can expect.

On May 23, Xbox Game Pass is adding new horror game Amnesia: The Bunker, while May 25 will see the addition of both the console version of Cassette Beasts and Railway Empire 2. Finally, Farworld Pioneers is set to join the Game Pass lineup on May 30. These four games are day one Xbox Game Pass games, and while the same can't be said for FIFA 23, since it originally launched last September, it should still be a big new addition to the service.
