Halo Infinite's Hit Reg is Still Completely Broken

4
Despite multiple Seasons of content and plenty of bug fixes, hit registration in Halo Infinite's online play remains completely broken. 343 Industries has been updating Halo Infinite constantly since its initial 2021 release, but there are some issues that the developer seems unable to solve.

343 Industries desperately needs Halo Infinite fans back on board. Although the content introduced in Season 3 of Halo Infinite was seen as a step forward for the game, there's still a lot of work to be done to win over the fan base. A year and a half after the game's release, it seems that Halo Infinite is finally feature-complete, with everything promised pre-release now delivered. It has taken the developer a long time to get there though. For some, it has taken too long. Hopefully, the focus of the developer now turns to fixing more annoying elements of the game's experience, such as the well-documented hit registration issues.

The footage posted by Redditor StrugglingMusicMan shows the extent of the desync problems in Halo Infinite. It takes place on Tactical Slayer, a game mode with one-hit-kill headshots. The player clearly hits the enemy in the head, with blood flying out of the opponent. StrugglingMusicMan even slows down the footage for good measure which confirms the headshot. They do eventually get the kill, but it takes a melee attack to finish the job. For many players, this is the default Halo Infinite experience. Make no mistake - the hit registration in the game is completely broken at the moment.

For those who have said "THAT WAS A HEADSHOT!" while playing Tac Slayer, Yes. Yes it was.

These problems have been a source of frustration for many Halo Infinite players. It's practically impossible to play the game without experiencing poor hit registration to some degree, and it's understandable why fans are so frustrated. Past Halo titles didn't suffer from this issue, yet Halo Infinite has faced the problem now for a year and a half without a solution. It's not as if the game is unplayable - it isn't. But players just want Halo to return to the top of the shooter tree. With issues like this plaguing the game, it will struggle to achieve that any time soon.

It will be interesting to see 343 Industries' approach to supporting Halo Infinite once Season 3 concludes on June 27. The developer is yet to announce any details about Season 4, but that end date is fast approaching, and players will expect new content coming their way. It's presumed that Season 4 will see the addition of new multiplayer maps for Halo Infinite, but nothing is certain. Hopefully, gamers should begin to hear more specifics throughout the duration of May.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
