Bethesda has announced that Fallout 76 is set to receive a major update, which will bring two new cryptids and a bunch of playable content into the open-world RPG this summer. The development team also touched on a minor game update, which will bring bug fixes and performance optimizations after short server maintenance on April 18.

Titled 'Once in a Blue Moon', this new major update will bring public events, side quests, rewards, daily ops mutation, and two cryptids — The Blue Devil and the Ogua. Players will help the Blue Ridge Caravan clear out creatures and defend the Repeller to earn new items and rewards. The Blue Devil will fill the air around players with its horrifying howl, with its glowing eyes reflecting the moonlight in an inquisitive stare.

Additionally, while walking around The Cranberry Glade, players will come across a massive, turtle-like creature, which rumbles the ground and inflicts fear upon them.

A new in-game event, called The Mothman Equinox, will allow players to join other Dwellers to aid the Enlightened to summon the Wise Mothman and earn the cryptid's favor. They will receive specific Mothman Themed rewards like the Cultist Incarnate Helmet and the Wise Mothman Throne. This event will be available from April 25 at 12:00 p.m. ET to May 9 at 12:00 p.m. ET.



Players can also help Luca Costa, a local trader whose cargo of makeshift explosives has been stolen by a group of Cultists after a deal went wrong. One of the new daily quests will require getting acquainted with a resident taskmaster, Vinny Costa, who wants to throw some caps at players willing to help him solve his problems with employees. Unlike daily quests, players will be able to complete this series of quests only once. However, each quest offers a unique reward ranging from CAMP items to outfits.

As for the minor update, it will bring a few needed bug fixes and performance optimizations. Bethesda will take Fallout 76 servers offline on April 18 at 10 a.m. ET to apply the latest update.
