Xbox’s April update adds a new search experience and power settings

4.5
Microsoft has detailed Xbox’s April system update ahead of its imminent release.

Headlining this month’s update, which will start rolling out this week, are a refreshed Xbox search experience and an adjustable active hours power setting for consoles

The updated console search page includes a new look (pictured above), gallery-style results, visible filter categories navigable with the RB/LB buttons, and an option to search on YouTube within the Movies & TV tab.

It’s accessible by tapping the search button at the top of the dashboard, via the magnifying glass icon within the guide, or by pressing the Y controller button anywhere within the console UI.

The system update will also let players who have selected the Sleep power option on Xbox configure their console’s active hours, which are automatically set to always active unless changed.

During active hours, Xbox consoles will boot quickly and support activities like Remote Play and mobile game installs. Outside of active hours, consoles will fully shut down and draw 0.5 watts vs. 10-15 watts while active.

Following Xbox’s February system update, consoles were automatically placed in the Shutdown (energy saving) power option, which Microsoft said cuts power use by up to 20x when consoles are off compared to Sleep.

Earlier today, Arkane Studios confirmed that Redfall won’t include a 60 FPS Performance mode on Xbox Series X/S when the game in released
