Rise of the Ronin Studio Has Another Game Planned for 2023 Release

Developer Team Ninja has revealed that it plans on releasing a new game in 2023. With the studio getting ready to release Rise of the Ronin in 2024, Team Ninja boss Fumihiko Yasuda has revealed in an interview with Famitsu that it is also working on a game slated for a 2023 release, as well as one slated for a 2025 release.

“We have been developing Rise of the Ronin for about 7 years now and plan to release it in 2024,” said Yasuda, according to a translation by DualShockers. “This title will be released in 2023, and we would like to release a new title in 2025. I hope to be able to tell you about that in the future when I can.”

Yasuda’s statement would imply that the 2023 game being spoken about in the interview is a title other than the recently-released Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which was also developed by Team Ninja.

Yasuda hasn’t really revealed any details about what game Team Ninja will release in 2023, and has stated that rumours about the studio working on remasters for Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive came about from “a misunderstanding”. The studio itself stated that, while it has “the enthusiasm for the return of these beloved titles”, it doesn’t really have any details or information to share.

Rise of the Ronin was announced back in 2022, having started development seven years ago. The game is set in late 19th century Japan during the end of the Edo period. In terms of gameplay, it will allow players to use a variety of weapons and tools, including katanas, firearms, and grappling hooks.

Rise of the Ronin doesn’t have a solid release date yet aside from a 2024 release window.
