The dedicated page for the joy-con drifting issue on the Nintendo Support website has recently been updated with a new line that indicates all Nintendo repair centres in the EEA (European Economic Area), UK, and Switzerland offer free repair service for Switch owners who suffer from the drift issues.

This was already the case for the North American Switch owners as well as some other regions in the world, and now this service is being extended to Europe. Even if the warranty of your joy-cons has expired, you can still get them fixed for free.

"Nintendo takes great pride in creating high-quality and durable products and is continuously making improvements to them," reads the disclaimer. "Therefore and until further notice, Nintendo offers to consumers who purchased the respective product in the EEA, UK and Switzerland that repairs for responsiveness syndrome relating to control sticks will be conducted at no charge by official Nintendo repair centres."

Nintendo Switch has been struggling with drifting joy-cons for a while now. The company even faced a lawsuit for the drifting joy-cons last year. For those unfamiliar, drifting refers to an issue where the joy-con analogs are triggered without the user tilting them. As you can imagine, this can be very frustrating for players.

Originally launched back in 2017, Nintendo Switch still has a strong financial performance in the hardware market. Despite the fact that both Sony and Microsoft announced new consoles in the last few years, Nintendo still believes that Switch has a few more great years ahead, before transitioning into a new generation. Nintendo released an upgraded version of the Switch with an OLED screen and some connectivity improvements.

Recently, Nintendo revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be the very first Switch first-party title to be released at the price of $69.99.
