Developer Ironmace has announced that the medieval extraction game Dark and Darker will hold another playtest with additional content in April. It will run from April 14-19, allowing players to defeat gruesome monsters and uncover mythical treasures prior to the game's Early Access launch.

Although Ironmace has not commented to a specific release date for its hack-and-slash game, the upcoming playtest could be an indication of a slight delay to early May. The development team previously said a launch in late April was likely. The most recent playtest gave the team ideas on how to proceed with development, with the studio confirming that players will test out substantial additions that will further expand the game's content.

"We realize we still have some important questions that need to be answered. It is for this reason we have decided to schedule another playtest prior to our Early Access launch. We hope to test some pretty substantial additions for this playtest that require a bit more development time than in the past." Ironmace said about what players should expect from the upcoming test. It also said the time between the two playtests was disappointing. "We know the extended downtime between the playtests may be disappointing to our fans, but we will work our hardest to make the next one even better than before."

Dark and Darker is a team-based fantasy adventure game in which players delve into the depths of an ancient citadel, where players will fight against monsters and explore a mythical underground fortress. Once they've plundered their riches, players must find the hidden espace before the darkness reclaims everything in their possession. They will assemble a party to increase their chance of survival while mastering an array of close combat weapons. Moreover, players can gain special skills to discover hidden portals and uncover invaluable artifacts.

Ironmace's medieval extraction game does not have a firm release date yet. In our Dark and Darker preview, we said: "There are still a number of things that need to be changed for the game to release its full potential. The central idea is bursting with potential, and it only needs a few tweaks to be a real hit. Dark and Darker is definitely one to watch."
