Resident Evil 4 Remake Bringing Back New Game Plus Mode

4.3
Gamers are relieved after hearing that the New Game Plus mode is confirmed to be returning to Resident Evil 4 remake. The anticipated remake of the critically acclaimed survival horror game is arriving soon, and new details are being revealed ahead of its launch. In a recent rapid-fire interview, the producer and director of the game answer what's to return, what's not to return, as well as what will be a new addition to the Resident Evil 4 remake.

In the original Resident Evil 4, a game already considered a masterpiece by Resident Evil 4 remake's director, when the player beats the full game, they are given New Game Plus. In this game mode, players can play through the entire game again with all the items, weapons, and money that they had with them in the last playthrough. They could also use extra rewards they earned for completing the game, like new outfits and weapons.

Game Informer recently put out a video of a series of rapid-fire questions about Resident Evil 4 remake being answered by the game's producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and director Yasuhiro Ampo. With the recent news that some content may be locked behind Resident Evil 4's Deluxe Edition, this was a welcome bit of transparency. While most of the questions are of a more humorous and silly nature, such as asking where Leon actually puts the massive attache case he carries, there were questions in the interview that pertained to what was actually in the game. One of these questions was if the game would have a New Game Plus mode, to which they reply, albeit briefly, "Yes, there is a New Game Plus."

Alongside the sillier questions asked by the interviewer, there are still important answers about Resident Evil 4 remake to find. Among them is the inclusion of haptic feedback of the PS5's Dualsense controller, as well as a photo mode. Other important answers include the fact that the helicopter pilot Mike will have more appearances throughout the game besides the one time he appears on the island, and that the dog Leon saves at the beginning of the original game, the one that saves him from El Gigante, may not actually be as dead as people thought.

In this day and age, New Game Plus seems to be more of an afterthought, just like how The Callisto Protocol's New Game Plus came after it had already been released. Usually, survival horror games are rather short, and thus the inclusion of a New Game Plus is a welcome addition that provides plenty more replayability after the game has already been beaten. So to have it already confirmed is a relief to the many fans of the popular Resident Evil 4, who eagerly await the remake's release.

Resident Evil 4 launches March 24 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Runts PlayStation has like all of the RE games even old classics

Historically it has been unique to Playstation but the newer games tend to be available across all platforms these days. This remake is coming to Xbox and PC as well.

It's silly not to add the plus mode. It just adds so much more content and fun to dedicated players. Gets people playing your game and discovering everything you've made.
