Cities: Skylines Remastered Announced For PlayStation 5 And Series X|S

4.4
Paradox Interactive has announced Cities: Skylines Console Remastered for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The new enhanced version of the city-building simulator will be released for current-gen consoles on February 15th, with plenty of new features and enhancements.

A short teaser trailer confirmed the release date, as well as all of the enhancements coming to the current-gen version of the game. Paradox Interactive also confirmed that the remastered version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will be completely free to existing owners of the game. In response to a fan, Paradox said, "If you already own the Base Game or any DLCs, the Remastered version of those products will be available to you without any additional cost."

Whether you're picking up Cities: Skylines for the first time, or upgrading from the previous-gen version, there are plenty of new features to look forward to. The biggest addition coming to the remastered console version is the ability to use 25 tiles to expand and build on, as opposed to the current 9 tiles available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The announcement trailer also confirmed that there will be new UX improvements, such as precision placements, a new distance indicator, and updated snapping options. Players will also be able to find a new environmental controls panel, which will allow them to adjust things such as the time of day, rain, fog, and environmental coloring. Players will also find a new quick selection tool, map editor, and of course, a graphical performance increase for the "bigger city builders."

Cities: Skylines was originally launched exclusively on PC back in 2015, but was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a couple of years later, in 2017. The console release was then followed up with a release for the Nintendo Switch the following year, but all three consoles had various restrictions compared to the PC version of the game.

Cities: Skylines Console Remastered will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Wednesday, February 15th. The upgrade will be completely free to those who already own the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
