Dead Space Creator Thanks Motive For "Taking Care" With Remake

3.8
Glen Schofield, the creator of the Dead Space series, has praised EA Motive for its handling of the critically-acclaimed remake.

Prompted by a post from his daughter Nicole Schofield (currently an environmental artist at his studio) regarding the remake, Glen took to LinkedIn to reflect on the original, and thank EA Motive for its work on the remake.

“To all of you who worked on the original, thank you for your contributions to an amazing game. It has withstood the test of time,” he wrote.

“And to Motive, thank you for your care in remaking the game faithfully. Congratulations.”

Schofield created Dead Space while vice president at the now-defunct Visceral Games. After his tenure at Visceral, he created Sledgehammer Games which was acquired by Activision to work on the Call of Duty series. In 2019, Schofield joined South Korean conglomerate Krafton to head up its new development team Striking Distance Studios.

Schofield led the development of The Callisto Protocol. As a science fiction third-person survival horror game, The Callisto Protocol was widely seen as a spiritual successor to Dead Space. With the two games releasing within one month of each other, people couldn’t help but see them as competitors. Elijah had some less positive thoughts on The Callisto Protocol, calling it a “soulless concoction of unfocused ambitions.”

The Dead Space remake has received widespread praise since its release, even reeling in those who didn’t enjoy the original. The Dead Space remake is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Runts The game never was it for me I know many people loved it back then it's just okay though. Not really remake worthy imo.

Based on the sales records it has definitely been worth it

I liked the original, but not enough to play the remake. Great to hear its been so well received though. I probably would play it if I didn't have about ten games sitting on my shelf that I don't have time for!
