Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Bardock DLC Launch Trailer Teases Next Story Arc

3.6
A newly released launch trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's upcoming DLC "Bardock - Alone Against Fate" has included a teaser for the next downloadable content, which is strongly hinted to be the “23rd Tenkaichi Budokai” story arc from the anime as teased earlier by reliable Dragon Ball news reporter Dbshype.

Bardock- Alone Against Fate is the first DLC in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Season Pass 2, and the fourth DLC for the game overall. The DLC is confirmed to arrive on January 13th alongside a free next-gen update and is inspired by the TV anime special episode Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku, in which the protagonist's father Bardock fights against Frieza and his plan to destroy the entire Saiyan race, a war that ended with his death and Goku escaping to planet Earth thanks to Bardock's efforts.

The Tenkaichi Budōkai is a recurring tournament in the series that happens once every three or four years and pits the strongest characters from all over the earth – and sometimes other planets – against each other. The 23rd Tenkaichi Budōkai in particular was more of a recreational conflict that is centered around the fight between Goku and Piccolo, ending with the latter's defeat against Goku who recently trained with the God of Earth.

This news also comes as a surprise because this is the first time the game has decided to adapt a story arc from the original Dragon Ball. Previously, it had only adapted the story of the sequel series Dragon Ball Z, along with other TV specials and movies. The first season pass has adapted the Battle of the Gods movie (Goku vs Broly), and the Resurrection F movie (Golden Frieza), as well as Trunks's past – the son of Goku's archrival Vegeta – which was a story only told in the TV special "The History of Trunks".

The next-gen update of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot will allow it to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S' hardware, providing players with faster loading times, updated visuals and fluid gameplay of up to 60 FPS. Those who already own the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the game will receive the update for free.
