The Last of Us Part 1 Will be Optimized for the Steam Deck

3.8
2023 will see Sony continuing to expand its presence on the PC platform with more releases of PlayStation first party titles. The Last of Us Part 1 has been confirmed as one of those since it was unveiled, and recently at The Game Awards, it was given a March launch date as well. But of course, as is often the question with PC releases these days, there’s no shortage of people who’re wondering how well the remake will run on the Steam Deck.

If you did intend to play the remake on Valve’s portable PC, there’s good news for you. Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, recently took to Twitter and confirmed that when The Last of Us Part 1 launches for PC next year, it will indeed be fully optimized for the Steam Deck- or Steam Deck Verified, as Valve likes to say.

Of course, looking at past PlayStation releases on PC, that doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and others all feature full support for the Steam Deck. Early 2023 will also see the launch of Returnal on PC, and while it’s yet to be officially confirmed the Housemarque shooter is also likely to be optimized for Valve’s device upon launch.

The Last of Us Part 1 launches for PC on March 3. It is currently available on PS5. The game will cost $60 on PC, as opposed to $70 on PS5.
