Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Could Be Coming To Steam

4.2
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla may be finally coming to Steam, according to recent code from the game's Ubisoft Connect page. User TheAshenOne on resetera.com revealed that the connect page has several lines of code insinuating that the game is coming to the popular PC platform, as reported by PCGamesN.

This may come as a surprise, as Ubisoft's vice president of partnerships and revenue, Chris Early, famously had said that Steam's business model was unrealistic. In 2019, Early did a profile piece for the New York Times, representing and promoting Epic Games and the Epic Games Store. During the interview, Early was quoted as saying, "It's unrealistic, the current business model that they have." Early continued, "It doesn't reflect where the world is today in terms of game distribution."

The Epic Games Store was designed to be a competitor to Steam; in the same interview, CEO of Epic Games Tim Sweeney was quoted as saying, "The goal is to build a long-term and presumably stable business." This interview, coupled with Assassin's Creed Valhalla's apparent debut on Steam, may have fans wondering what happened to the long-term competition Epic Games was hoping to make.

Ubisoft currently has several new Assassin's Creed related projects in the works. Fans may be familiar with the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Mirage, Assassin's Creed: Infinite, and currently dubbed Codename Red, which is set in Feudal Japan. Ubisoft has even more in store for the Assassin's Creed universe, having revealed two new mobile games: Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade, set in Ancient China, and another title to be offered through Netflix's upcoming mobile game platform. Finally, Assassin's Creed: Invictus is set to be the multiplayer element within Assassin's Creed: Infinite, made by the same developers behind Rainbow Six: Seige.

With all of these projects in the works, fans may have wondered if they would see any of them on Steam. With Valhalla's introduction to the digital distribution service, it is likely more will follow.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is a massive game. Players will need to spend somewhere around 60 hours to beat this behemoth, and that's if they stick to the main story alone. With all of its content together, you can spend up to 140 hours playing Valhalla, gathering collectibles and raiding every settlement you come across. You can currently find every Assassin's Creed game on the Steam store — bar Valhalla. With the latest Assassin's Creed game apparently coming to Steam, fans will finally be able to play the entire series from their PC.
