The first footage of Halo Infinite’s Forge mode has seemingly leaked

Footage from what appears to be Halo Infinite‘s Forge mode has appeared online.

As posted by Twitter user @leaks_infinite, who in the past has revealed unannounced content found in Halo Infinite’s code, the Forge mode appears to currently exist in an unfinished state, with the user able to spawn various map elements and in-game effects.

The mode, which allows players to customise already existing Halo maps, as well as create new game modes, has been a series staple since it was introduced in Halo 3.

It’s currently unclear how @leak_infinite has been able to access the mode.

From a screenshot posted to Twitter on February 14, 2022, the user was able to access the in-game objects menu, which will allow players to alter biomes, accents, lights and more elements of the custom maps.

Footage of several maps currently in the game, but with altered elements has also appeared online. Fragmentation, a map that currently takes place in a lush, brightly-lit field, can be seen covered in snow.

Another map, Bazaar, which usually takes place during the day, can be seen with a night-time twist, implying that players will be able to alter these elements when the full Forge mode releases.

Seasonal props including a snowman and a gingerbread house have also been found in the game, however it’s currently unclear whether these will be included in Forge or as part of an unannounced event.

Last August, 343 announced that Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op and Forge mode wouldn’t be available when the game released in December.

While no date was explicitly given, Joseph Staten, head of creative for Halo Infinite told Eurogamer in November: “Our goal still remains what I said before, which is to ship campaign co-op with Season 2 and Forge with Season 3. But those remain goals. Those remain targets.

“And we can’t commit to any hard dates right now, because as we’re seeing with this multiplayer beta, other things might move up in the priority stack for us.”

Recently, 343 Industries has said it needs additional time before it can publicly announce its future plans for Halo Infinite.
