Hey TTG - This is really going to be my final decision on the laptop i'm going to get.
My choices have been between 3 laptops. One from PCWORLD that was absolutely shocking which i soon found out and 2 other custom built ones.
The laptop i'm going to get custom built is from PCSPECIALIST
The 2 laptops will contain this...

Intel Core i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-4200M (2.50Ghz) 3MB or a 2.60Ghz one
8GB Samsung 1600MHz Sodimm DDR3 Memory (1x8gb)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M - 2.0GB DDR5 Video Ram - DirectX 11
750GB WD Scoripio Blue WD7500 BPVX Sata 6 gb/s 8MB Cache (5400 RPM)
Arctic MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVIITY
GIGABIT LAN & Wireless INTEL ADVANCED N - 6235 (300MBps)+ bluetooth
Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Now, with all that at hand it is a brilliant laptop so i am concerned however, i have a choice between a 1600x900 17.3" screen or a 1920x1080 15.6" Screen. The two laptops are going to contain exactly the same specs as each other just one will look different with a bigger screen than the other.
My question is what screen res should i get?
I'm going to be doing alot of PC gaming aswell as alot of CourseWork for school etc?
Which is going to be the best? They're both the same price i'm just not sure whether one is going to preform lower than the other?
thanks +Rep

1920x1080 in a smaller space = better quality.

So for that reason alone I'd pick that one.

1920x1080 looks alot better then 1600x900. With that graphics card you will be able to run any game you throw at it. The lower the resolution the better the game will run. But with those specs right there i would go with the 1920x1080 one.

I currently own a 17.3" laptop at 1600x900. Personally I don't mind it but it's a "gaming laptop" and has a battery life of ~2.5hrs. Go with the 1920x1080, you'll be much happier with how it looks as well as overall portability and battery life.
