Final Fantasy 7 Remake officially launched on April 10, 2020, on PlayStation 4, followed by a PlayStation 5 release on June 10, 2021. A PC port of the successful action RPG has since been released, too, on December 16, 2021. No Xbox version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake or its Intergrade expansion has been announced. Microsoft even went so far as to accuse Square Enix of agreeing to a PlayStation deal that forces it to exclude Xbox support for Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
While the prospect of Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming to Xbox platforms may be dim, fans have not given up hope. A Father's Day post from the official Xbox Twitter account featured nine different video game screenshots, each capturing notable video game character fathers. Barrett of Final Fantasy 7 Remake was in one of the screenshots. While fans wanted to believe this was a hint at Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming to Xbox, the company has since officially confirmed the image was posted in error.

The verbatim comment from Xbox, as provided to Eurogamer, states that, "The image was posted in error and removed as it included a title not available on Xbox." In other words, the Xbox employee responsible for the Father's Day post likely chose those screenshots without realizing the image was from a game that isn't on Xbox. Perhaps they were a fan of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, or perhaps they were unfamiliar with the game or the character. Either way, it was a mistake.
Even this setback won't stop fans from requesting Final Fantasy 7 Remake be ported to Xbox, of course. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a major release and Xbox users understandably want all major releases on the platform. So long as they keep asking for the game on Xbox, Square Enix will feel growing pressure to bring the game to the platform.
There are already hints that Square Enix will be more supportive of Xbox in the future. Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently made an appearance with Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu to announce Final Fantasy 14's support on Xbox Series X/S. During that announcement, they teased future collaboration. For the time being, however, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and its upcoming sequel Final Fantasy 16 Rebirth have no plans to support Xbox at this time.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
