Many people have been saying hot swapping without opening your console is patched, but I've recently found a way to do it that will never get patched.
To hot swap after all patched, simply start up your xbox 360 and unplug your ethernet cable, go to system settings>>console settings>>auto play>>disable.
Then go to system settings>>memory and highlight your hardrive.
Then, press "X LB RB X LB RB X" to remove all system updates.
This will allow you to hot swap as you normally do, by inserting your regular, store purchased game, clicking eject and "Y" at the same time, inserting the modded game and installing it to the hardrive.
