Go to the Media Convert website with your web browser. Media Convert does file conversion online for free while you wait.

Look for the button that reads "Browse" by the "File" field. In Safari, the button will read "Choose File" instead. Click on the button to select the JPG file that you want to convert.

Verify the input file type by "Input Format." It should have auto detected your file type, but if not, you can select it from the pull down menu.

Scroll just below the block ads until you see "Output Format." Click on the pull down menu and select GIF as your output file type.

Move your mouse to the right of the screen where the "OK" button is located. Click on that button to start the JPG to GIF conversion. The screen will refresh as the file converts, and will display a download link to the new GIF file when it is done. Download the new GIF file to your computer.

Point your web browser to the River Past software website. On the River Past site you will need to download and install the River Past Video Cleaner and the River Past MPEG-4 Booster Pack. Go to the Apple website. Download and install QuickTime to your computer if you do not already have it. QuickTime is free.

Launch the River Past Video Cleaner. Click "Add Files" and select the GIF file for conversion.

Select MP4 as your output format by clicking the arrow by "Output Format." Also click the arrow by "Output Folder" to select a location for the new MP4 file.

Convert GIF to MP4 by clicking "Convert" from the toolbar. You can watch the "Status" column to monitor the progress. A summary screen will appear when the conversion is complete, and you can click "OK" to close it and use the new MP4 file.
