If you've wondered how to get a horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD), this guide will show you how!

There are basically three ways:

- Steal a Horse

- Advance the Story until you get one for free (from Main Quest "The Prey").

- Buy a horse

Option #1: Stealing a Horse

First off, the problem with this method is that the horse may not listen when you whistle with Triangle / Y.

However, in the early game this is your best (and only option). For example, you can find horses in the courtyard of Talmberg. This is the second town you visit in the story.

Be careful not to get caught. If someone sees you stealing a horse and you ride off, they will remember your face for a while. You also become less popular in town. Double check that nobody is watching you when stealing horses.

Option #2: Horse as Mission Reward

You get your first horse (called "Pebbles") by beating Main Quest "The Prey" in Rattay. This is an unmissable story quest.

In this quest you go hunting with Lord Capon in the woods. He wants a competition who of you two can catch the most rabbits. Afterwards, he will go hunt a boar with a bow and arrow which fails and he chases after it. At this point things get more tricky as you have to search for him in the middle of the woods.

Upon finding the lord you will notice he got trapped by two Cuman enemies. Defeat them to rescue the Lord. Then return to Rattay. As a reward for saving Lord Capon you will receive your own horse, Pebbles! This quest happens after doing a few main missions in Rattay, still relatively early in the game.

Option #3: Buying a Horse

This is for the late-game / endgame. For a start the story-related horse will do. But later you may want a faster steed. You can buy higher-tier horses from Horse traders.
