Q: Is it illegal?
A: Yes and no, since the actual jail breaking of an iDevice was legalized. But what you do with your jail break is illegal, like installous which gets you free applications.

Q: Does it affect your iPod in anyway bad?
A: Not at all, people say that it slows your iPod, breaks them, or such stuff like that. Well they are wrong, it adds an application known **** Cydia onto your iDevice since Apple doesn't allow it.

Q: Is jail breaking worth it?
A: Many different people have different opinions, but I say it is since you can customize your iDevice to the fullest extent with ease. I just don't think an regular iDevice matches up to and non-jail broken iDevice at all.

Q: Does jail breaking void the warrenty?
A: Yes, but you can just restore the iDevice and the warrenty will still be in effect.

Q: Can jail breaking your iDevice "brick" it?
A: Yes it can, but it can be easily fixed just by restoring it, and usually only gest bricked when you really screw up at jail breaking it.

JailBreaking
To start off with JailBreakMe (dot) Com and all supported versions of the iDevices for it.
If you go there in your iDevice browser it will say that you can jail break or not with that site. I know that iPod 1G and 2G are not supported with this Jail Break

After you download this connect your iDevice and open up the program it will have directions on what to do.

1.) Connect iPod this USB cord.
2.) Open up Spirit. (File you downloaded from link above.)
3.) Click JailBreak.

I have not used this so I don't know what to do. Just download it and open up the program after you connect your iPod with the USB cord. It probably will have a tutorial.

Congrats on JailBreaking your iDevice! Now what you can do with it!

Okay so this is probably what a JailBroken iDevice is known for, next to free applications from app store but that will be later in the post.

To use themes on your iDevice you have to download WinterBoard. You can find it by searching Cydia or going under Featured in the Cydia tab in the Cydia application.

You can find themes for almost anything you want. Just start searching. But if you want to get further into themes and want to make your own. Then follow this tutorial below.

1.) Go to CodeThemed.Com
2.) Make an aaccount.
3.) Click the "Build a theme now" in the upper right hand corner.
4.) Get your own pictures that you want to be in your theme.
Tip the dimensions for the Lockscreen, Wallpaper, Etc.
(Width x Height)
Dock: 320x91
Icons: 59x60
Backgrounds: 320x480
Status Bar Backgrounds: 320x20
Sliders: 71x47
Slider Backgrounds: 320x96
Unlock Text Highlights: 80x32
5.) Add your pictures to where you want them to be.
6.) Once all done making your theme you can upload it to Cydia or you can download your theme. If you choose to upload it to Cydia you can download it from Cydia if you don't do that then you will have to Open SSH it onto your iDevice.

How to add a downloaded theme to your iDevice with Open SSH
1.) Download WinSCP

2.) After thaqt is downloaded click new. on the right side.
It should say
Host Name:
Port:22
UserName:
Password:
Private Key File:

You only need to edit Host Name, Username, and Password.
The host name is your local IP addresss for your iDevice can be found within Settings on your iDevice. Follow this path to find it. Settings > General > Network > Wi-Fi > The blue arrow to the right of the Wi-Fi you are connected to. It should be the first one that says IP Adress. Put that into Host name.

Put root in UserName and Alpine in password, it should like this.
Host Name: (The IP Adress you found.)
Port:22
UserName: root
Password: alpine
Private Key File:

3.) After doing all that click save then log in. You will be at a window that has your iDevice files on the right and some random computer files on the left. You want to focus on the right. Click the ".." thing until it says in the address bar above it only has a /

4.) Follow this path / > Private > var > Stash > Themes. It should look like /Private/var/stash/themes or something like that.

5.) Just drag an drop your theme into that and it should appear on your WinterBoard. If it pops up with something just click copy.

Okay this is mostly what people JailBreak for, free applications off of the App Store.
1.) Open up Cydia

2.) Near the bottom click "Manage"

3.) Click "Sources" then in the upper right hand corner click Edit. Then add [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

4.) When that is done, just click done in the upper right hand corner then click on the Hackulo.us source.

5.) Download Installous 4.

6.) After that just open Installous and download away.

1.) Just open up Cydia, click Search in the bottom right corner and Search MxTube and download it.

2.) After that just open up MxTube and search a video, click it and scroll down and click download either high or low, either one works.

After adding these sources just search the paid app you want and you will most likely find a free version.

Open up SinfuliPhone and look for gpSPhone cracked and download that.

After that open up the apt123locker source named 4pp13 Team Repository.
Download GBA ROMs package 1 (Pokemon titles)

After you get both of those just open up gpSPhone and select the Pokemon game you want to play.

Create a new Notepad document and add codes in there.

While posting them in the Notepad after every code you have to press enter twice.

Once done adding in your codes click file Save As
And name it the name of the ROM/Game you are playing. So in this case for me

Pokemon Emerald.cht

Add the .cht at the end so your emulator recognizes it as a cheat file.

The where it says "Save as Type" Change that to All Files. Then save.

Now you will have to SSH the cheats into your iPod. Download OpenSSH from Cydia and then on your computer download WinSCP.

Once both of those are downloaded go on your iPod and go to Settings > Wi-Fi then next to what Wi-Fi network you have there should be a blue arrow. Click it. You will see you IP Adress. Write that down.

Now go into WinSCP. Enter this information
IP - "Your IP Adress"
Username - root
Password - alpine

Then click Login. Then go to /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/GBA
Once there just drag and drop the .cht file into the right side. Thats it. You should have cheats on your Game.

Notes
-For location codes you will enable it walk through a door, ladder, etc. and you will be teleported to where your code was supposed to take you, once there disable the location code.
-Item/Pokemon codes will usually store them on your PC.

Now go Catch 'em all!

What you need.
-MewSeek
-iFile
-xPod

1.) Download all the Music you will listen too.

2.) Open up iFile and go to this directory.
/var/mobile/Media/MewSeek/Import

3.) Click 'Edit' in the upper right hand corner and select all the Music you want to listen too. And either Cut or Copy it, doesn't really matter...

4.) Then go to this directory.
/var/mobile/Media/Music

5.) Then click 'Edit' then paste all the Music you copied into there.

6.) When done open up xPdd and listen to your Music. Smile

.:Safari Download Manager Method:.
Same process but you get to find the Music easier with Google and such.

What you need.
-Safari Download Manager (Obviously)
-xPod
-iFile

1.) Download the songs you want the Safari Download Manager you can get from Cydia.

2.) Open up iFile and go to the Directory.
/var/mobile/Media/Safari

3.) Then you have to just copy or cut the .mp3 files and paste them in the directory.
/var/mobile/Media/Music

4.) Close iFile and open up xPod and listen to your Music!


xPod is like a secondary 'Music' application that lets you add .mp3 files into it for listening.

Not liking xPod because of some of its disabilities? Then this tutorial is for you!

What you need
-MewSeek
-WinSCP

1.) Download all the Music you want. (Common sense right?)

2.) Open up WinSCP (Ihave a tutorial on how to do this above!) Then go to this directory in WinSCP.
/var/mobile/Media/MewSeek/Import

3.) Now just copy/cut and paste these songs into a Music folder or somewhere you keep your Music. Close WinSCP

4.) Open up iTunes drag and drop the Music you just copied or cut from WinSCP.

5.) Sync your iPod and your done! Go check out your jams on your Music application on your iPod touch!

This allows you to have infinite amount of apps on your dock.

-iFile-
With this you can edit and mod games

-AndroidLock-
This simulates an Android line and dot lock screen for your lockscreen password.

-PedoBear-
This will allow you to add 120 different Pedobears to pictures that are found on your photo library.

-iOSFaker-
This simulates your iPod to look like an Android, this doesn't replace your SpingBoard to make it into a Andriod iDevice mix thing...

-Note Passer-
You will be able to pass notes with another person who has the same app with Bluetooth on.

-SBSettings-
This will add a menu you activate by sliding your status bar you can customize what applications will appear on your SpringBoard. You can also respring, reboot, turn on or off Wi-FI, Bluetooth, and Open SSH.

-Insomnia-
This will keep Wi-FI based apps from sleeping. So you don't have to keep click on Cydia so it will download.

-Make it Mine-
You can change your carrier and banner. Carrier in the upper right hand corner. Banner in the upper middle (Clock).

-Extreme WiFi-
This automatically connects you to the closest and best Wi-Fi connection you can detect.

-Mobile Theater-
Well just as it sounds you can use it to get movies for on the go!

-MewSeek-
A free iTunes for your iPod, adds Music too your iPod's Music application for free.

-xPod-
Lets you put regular .mp3 files in here and you can listen to them with ease!

-gpSPhone-
Game boy emulator that lets you play game boy games.
