Rocket League passes 14 million players

Rocket League developer Psyonix has revealed that the game has passed 14 million players across all platforms.

Although the number seems large, and it is, it’s not reflective of actual sales. The number of players includes things like split-screen accounts as well as all players who got the game for free with their PlayStation Plus subscription.

Psyonix revealed the good news earlier through Twitter.

Hoops, the basketball-themed Rocket League mode, will be available next week for free.

At least Rocket League is a much bigger success than the previous iteration; Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Rocket League feels unique and it's very clear why it has such a big player base.

so why is this posted to the ps tab? it should go under tech/game trailers/all three branches. all (good) current systems can play it. congrats on 14 million players. i bet that only around 5 or 6 million are actually bought copies of the game.

I bet 6 of those million are from when it was free on PS4. I'm on of those people.
