Mirror's Edge Catalyst recommended PC specs are rough

4.5
The minimum and recommended specs for Mirror's Edge Catalyst have been announced, and you're going to need quite a rig to hit the recommendations.

If you're a PC gamer looking to play Mirror's Edge Catalyst, you better make sure your machine is up to par. The minimum and recommended specs were released by EA today, and older machines need not apply.

The minimum specs aren't too bad, but they still require a CPU with at least four logical cores, 6 GB or RAM, and a GTX 650 Ti 2 GB. The recommended specs are what really catch your eye, calling for Windows 10, a GTX 970 4GB, and 16 GB of RAM. Here are the full spec lists, courtesy of the official Mirror's Edge site:

MINIMUM:

  • OS: Windows® 7 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel i3-3250 / AMD FX-6350. (Note: Mirror’s Edge Catalyst requires at least 4 logical cores to run.)
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 25 GB of free space
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 650 Ti 2GB or better / AMD Radeon™ R9 270x or better
  • INPUT: Keyboard and mouse, dual analog controller

RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: Windows® 10 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 at 3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350 at 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 25 GB of free space
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 970 4GB or better / AMD Radeon™ R9 280x 3GB or better
  • INPUT: Keyboard and mouse, dual analog controller

Considering how good the game looks, this isn’t too surprising.

The minimum aren't bad at all, but looking at the recommended, they must be running the game at 1080p Ultra 60fps, or else there is no way that much RAM or Graphics Memory would be required. I've got well above the recommended so I can't wait for this game.

Why do people not understand the recommended 16 GB of RAM? Yes, it's a lot, however this is the amount of ram the developers have determined will get you through the game without any kind of hiccup, whether it be, frame rate, alt-tabbing, etc. Also, you can leave more programs open at one time in the background. It's just a recommendation, people, you don't necessarily have to abide by it.

-Deano 16GB of RAM? What on earth are they doing to warrant that much? I don't know a single game that requires more than 8GB so this is ridiculous.

Star Wars: Battlefront recommended 16GB of RAM too. That runs perfect with 8GB, it's ridiculous. I bet when the game comes out it doesn't use more than 6GB.

recommended specs are probably running it at 4k or something.

I can run this on recommended :)
I will probably max it out.

I thought it needed like hex core processor but oh no never mind 16GB of ram. Ye right whatever. Games only need around 6 or 8GB unless people mod a game heavily.

This is my question. How is it that games on pc can require 16gb of ram, but consoles only have 8gb? The consoles does not look as good but they're very similar.

The mirrors edge game as always been a graphical masterpiece, it doesnt surprise me that it requires so much in order to run at a good rate.
