Activision confident that Infinity Ward “will rise from the ashes”

4.3
Activision is “100 percent confident” that Infinity Ward will “come back to what it was” without it meddling with the studios’ culture.

Speaking to Develop, Activision’s executive vice president Dave Stohl said that while the publisher is supporting the studio’s rebuilding process, it is being careful not to negatively impact the Modern Warfare devs’ existing culture.

“I use the term ‘support’ because as much as possible we don’t want to tamper with that group of people,” he said. “We want Infinity Ward to be Infinity Ward. It’s a very specific culture”.

Around a third of Infinity Ward’s employees are thought to have abandoned the studio following the sacking of bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella in March. However, despite suggestions that Infinity Ward would close, Stohl is hopeful they will return to their former glories.

“I’m one hundred per cent confident that the studio will come back to what it was, especially considering all the talent we’re seeing rising through and also being recruited. There’s a development philosophy that remains intact, and the studio is attracting amazing new talent. Ultimately, Infinity Ward will rise from the ashes.”

Odd that Activision should chose now to be the time to avoid “tampering with that group of people,” as you could argue it was their tampering that caused all these problems in the first place.
