Twitch will now save the entire chat with stream archives

4.6
Twitch now allows you to relive the meme and emote-filled horror that is the chat when you’re watching archived streams.

Twitch has announced that it’s brining live and archived content closer together by allowing users watching archived streams to see a replay of the show’s chat.

The feature is called Chat Replay, and it’ll be rolling out in the next few weeks. The displayed chat will be a copy of what the streamer and live audience witnessed while the show was live.

Everything will be replayed, including sub notifications, badges, etc. Moderated messages will remain hidden, however, and moderators can go back to delete ones they may have missed during the live shows.

The company has already begun capturing chat messages on new livestreams, and will be adding them to relevant archives in the next few days.

The feature was developed with help from the creator of ReChat, a browser extension which offered the same service.

This will have its benfits and negatives, hopefully more benefits

Seam This will honestly just be an archived flood of cancer, like every twitch chat ever.

Not every twitch chat is completely horrid, I've ran into a few that were pretty decent.

I hardly run into any good. Most of them are shit spams. When Twitch did a whole Pokemon movie marathon, this one part of the movie had Magikarp saying "Karp, karp, karp" for a few seconds, at that point, it was over for the chat. That was spammed for pretty much the rest of the movie, and even continued to the next day, even though it was never said in any other movies. That and the usual "VAC/VACation" spam followed by :kappa:

I can't tell if this is a good or bad feature, Interesting to see what will come out of it though.

I feel this could be abused. If someone gets personal info for the streamer and starts posting it and if the moderators or streamer don't see it or miss it when going back to review the chat log, it's now there for anyone to see when they watch the stream archives.
