Black Ops 3 is Now Available as a Multiplayer-Only Title on Steam

4.5
The Call of Duty single-player campaigns have long been a point of contention among the gaming community. Some appreciate the cheesy, over-the-top action set pieces they offer while others find them completely pointless. In a somewhat surprising move, the game is now available in an exclusively Multiplayer version on Steam.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops III Starter Pack runs for $15 on Steam, and cuts out the campaign and zombie modes of the title. Anyone who chooses to purchase this version of the game can then later upgrade to the full version at a discounted rate of $45.

Here’s what the official page says regarding what’s available:

The Multiplayer Starter Pack gives you access to Public Ranked Multiplayer matches and features including Weapon Paint Shop, Gunsmith, Arena, Freerun, Theater, and the Black Market.

Players can not prestige or browse Custom Matches in the Starter Pack. This may be a nice way to incentivize players who are unsure about the game to test the waters before committing to a purchase.

I got this game when it came out and had fun playing the story and the zombies, but the multiplayer portion of this game is just as bad as all the other Call of Duties multiplayers.

Its nice to see that they are selling part of a game for cheaper, even if the game is awful.

The multiplayer isn't even fun anymore I just buy it for the zombies.

Useless "feature" since steam has a refund policy. Also not too mention that you only get access to very limited content meaning just the multiplayer and only till level 55 since you can't prestige in the "starter" edition

I really enjoy zombies more than i do multiplayer nowdays since i think cod is just repeating over and over but i guess it is good for the people that just want to play only multiplayers.

Stifled This sucks a** in my opinion.

How? Multiplayer is easier to run, and not everyone wants to play singleplayer or zombies. If I wanted a zombie game I would play a freaking zombie game... cod is NOT a zombie game, its a chessy mock survival game that has no point to it. Cod singleplayer is garbage and to be fair the multiplayer is garbage too but I admit I only play cod nowadays for the online. You might think this sucks but in my eyes in the grand scheme this is a smart move.

What I kind of hate, is all the new low level players that are ending up on my team. Granted there are sometimes low level players on the enemy team too, but since I mostly solo queue, I'm getting stuck with 3-4 other low level players and then one higher level player and that player and I can't carry our team on Domination. Last night a level 7 was 3:51, like how do you even have fun doing that bad? I get the multiplayer only title gives room for newer players to try the game out, but there's just too many low level players running around in lobbies that one team gets screwed because of them. Plus apparently a lot of them are trying to play next-gen graphics on a wooden computer.....

I don't think it's something I would spend my money on.

Glad that they are offering this especially for those whom already own the full game on console.
