Minecraft 1.9 dated, pre-release snapshot available now

4.8
Minecraft 1.9 will arrive on the mothership (Mac and non-Windows 10 PC) on February 25, Mojang has announced.

Full patch notes will be released next week, but for now it looks like this update appears to be mostly focused on bug fixes. Here are the non-insect notes so far:

Increased durability of shields
Some crystals in the end are protected by cages again
Not a lot of features, then – but we’re pretty close to a major version number so it’s likely Mojang is saving its energies for the eventual 2.0.

Very excited about this, have been wanting to get back into the game for quite some time now and the 25th looks like a great time to do so.

_Skittle Why not on Windows 10? I have the Minecraft Windows 10 edition and it is just a bit weird, don't really see the point of having two different versions of the game running difference versions.

They should just have the same version for both versions of windows!

I hope in 2.0 they really change the game up a bit, maybe some new ores or some new tools, this could raise sales for them and revive some ex-players.

Everyone slags this game off but in reality they actually love it.
