Pay-to-play Call of Duty not happening

Activision implementing a monthly multiplayer fee to the Call of Duty franchise? Starting with this November’s Black Ops?

Lies.

Neither Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 or Treyarch’s upcoming Black Ops will require a subscription at any point, the studios’ respective community managers have confirmed.

“For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they,” IW’s Robert Bowling tweeted some hours ago, followed shortly by Treyarch colleague Josh Olin: “No, you will not have to ‘Pay to Play’ [Black Ops] Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed.”

Time to put this to bed then?

Great news, I'd love to play COD: Black Ops, but considering I'm more of a IW than a Treyarch fan, I wouldn't buy the game if they'd charge me money to play online.

@ xTHR33 : neither IW nor Treyarch make you pay to play COD, it's Microsoft that charges you for a Gold membership in order to play any game online with others.

i doubt they ever would of done it , they would of lost alot of customers , me included as the new Medal of Honour is looking quite good :)

i am so happy that this is not happening. i luv CoD and i am really looking forward to Black Ops and would hate to see this ruin it

Thanks God! I don't think anyone wanted to pay for Black Ops multiplayer. Now I'm sure to get this game. :)
