PlayStation VR release date and price leaked, cheaper than Oculus Rift

A Swiss online retailer has listed Sony's VR headset, PlayStation VR, for 498 Swiss francs (that's around €455 / £347). According to the retailer's listing, shipment of the VR headset is scheduled to commence on June 30, 2016. Sony has yet to comment on the matter.

It's a stark contrast to another recent retailer listing, when Amazon Canada suggested a price at $1,125 Canadian Dollars (that's around $800 USD), although that price point was denied by Sony immediately.

When it comes to VR, pricing is a sensitive issue, as demonstrated when Oculus recently announced the retail price for their headset.

To be honest id rather have the Oculus Rift than the PS-VR not because of price just because i think it would be alot better.

I don't understand the people complaining about price. VR headsets are far from commercial use. These are luxury items at this point. Give it awhile for competition to set in, and the price will steadily drop. With the lack of current competition Oculus and sony can price point whatever they feel is best, until other companies put out their own products.

If anything I would pick up an Oculus Right over the Playstation VR because I would preferably play pc games over ps4 games.

Of course it will be cheaper than the Oculus Rift. The Oculus Rift is way too expensive and Sony are looking like the cheaper alternative for their product.

Costs more than a new console and will probably only work with a couple shitty psn games. Not worth it.
