Tekken 7 Director Hopes Playstation VR Isn’t More Than $400

4.7
The fact that Sony hasn’t actually said what it is going to charge for its Playstation VR has some gamers very, very nervous. Considering the Oculus Rift is going to be selling for $599, there appears to be reason for those nerves. One person in particular in the industry is hoping Sony will allow wiser heads to prevail and not actually price their version of the VR tech at a number that is actually steeper than any of the consoles currently on the market.

Katsuhiro Harada was recently asked on Twitter what his thoughts were when it comes to the price of the PlayStation VR and the price was then pitched that it should be in the $300-$400 range. The Tekken 7 director responded with a very simple “I hope so.” For obvious reasons, Harada isn’t going to be real effusive when it comes to what he wants the price to be, because he certainly doesn’t want to be seen as someone who is actually taking Sony to task if they end up charging more for the device when it launches.

There had been talk last year the PlayStation VR would cost about the same as a console, so the $300 to $400 range makes sense. That range could also be a way to be a real competitor to Oculus by marking the price so much lower than its top rival. We’ll just have to wait and see when the information finally gets released.

For a first generation VR headset, I personally think this is way too much. Competitors like Oculus Rift have been working out bugs and what not through their invitation/beta program, so I think that even though their VR headset is more, it is probably better because of all the issue they have fixed already. Sony would run into all the starting bugs that they have already fixed and you really aren't saving that much money going with Sony over Oculus or whatever.

400 is too over the top. Imo. Hopefully its less

I think everyone hopes that it isnt over 400!

i hope it's less than $400 as well!

$300-$400 is still expensive when you think about it, VR still needs a lot of work so charging that much could be a rip off if it isn't perfect.

to be honest if sony makes it that expensive it's just gonna ruin the game franchise from not making another great game.

i don't think sony is gonna make it that pricey

Sony are quite behind, but if they can squeeze this in at a lower price than the Oculus Rift then they will have a good chance.

VR is going to be awful anyway; if you're gonna buy it, might as well get Oculus Rift lol

might as well make it 1,000 dollars....
