Analyst says Call of Duty: Black Ops will sell 12 million

4.3
Despite the current snarling litigious imbroglio surrounding Activision and the Call of Duty brand, an analyst thinks the latest installment in the series, Black Ops, will have no problem flying off the shelves this holiday.

According to Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson, Call of Duty: Black Ops will sell in excess of 12 million copies, which sits above his previously noted 10 million.

Citing his retail sources, he goes as far as to say pre-order numbers for the Cold War era, deniable ops shooter are up over that of Modern Warfare 2’s.

Call of Duty: Black Ops releases November 9.

Call me what you will, but I enjoy the Call of Duty series. I love the over-the-top action, and even if it’s the ignorance is bliss mentality, I don’t care. What about you? Will you pick up the game this November?

I'm buying it for the sole reason of 10th lobbies. If we can't do 10th lobbies I will probably never ever play it.

12 Million? Well i hope they use the money carefully, and use the money to improove the game or the advertisement.

I thought I'd also mention the reason I prefer Halo is because of it's balance. Each weapon, ability and vehicle is very much balanced; whereas in Cod/MW2, it is not. You're rewarded for having no life by having guns that are better than the people who suck. In Halo, if I go and pick up the game after a while, I don't have to worry that some random guy in matchmaking happens to have better guns than me. He has the same ones at his disposal, and sure I may forget where they are on the map, but that's too bad for me. I just don't like gameplay like that. It's also gay when I'm at a friends on the odd occasion I'm playing MW2, and he will use his classes, and I'll have to face him with shitty ass guns. Not fun at al whatsoever.

I will not buy this game. Nor did I purchase MW2. Every once in a while split-screen at a friends is alright, but it feels like too much a repeat of Cod 4. Cod 4 was enough for me, and sure that and Cod: WAW were damn fun, but it's being milked too much. At least Bungie knows when to stop milking a series. Halo: Reach is at least going to be unique, and much different from the previous instalments.

I just don't like the whole nuke thing in Cod, it just pisses me off. Like come on, it doesn't require much skill to use at all, and someone who would otherwise have an amazing kill streak is killed by someone who sucks. In Halo, you have to be good at killing your enemies with your gun, whilst using your abilities/equipment to your advantage. It took a lot more practice for me than Cod did. And I like how you can't shoot through virtually any object and get a kill from shooting a wall and not even knowing someone's there. But w/e, I'll stop with my negativity. If the game is very much different than the other Cods, and it's very replay-able because it's unique, than I may end up buying it. But I sure as hell am not pre-ordering it.
