New Xbox One UI does not support Kinect gestures

4.6
Microsoft dropped Kinect gestures from the New Xbox One Experience.

One of Kinect’s main features on Xbox One is that it allows you to raise your hand, and swipe left or right to navigate the console’s dahsboard. Microsoft is dropping this feature from the upcoming user interface overhaul.

According to Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, very few people used them, which is why the new dashboard ditched them.

“On gestures, when we looked at the New Xbox One Experience we wanted to prioritize features that customers were asking for, plus areas of improvement from the existing Xbox One UI,” he told Windows Central.

“With gestures, the reality was the usage was very, very low. So for now, we’ve cut that from the New Xbox One Experience.”

Ybarra confirmed that this week’s launch of the new dashboard will not contain Kinect-based gesture support, but that they could always return if feedback suggests fans want them back.

Gestures are completely separate from voice commands, of course, which the new UI supports.

I love my kinect.

"Xbox go to Netflix"
"Xbox go to VUDU"
"Xbox Pause/Play"

Those features alone are worth it in my HONEST opinion.
I use Netflix/VUDU all the time, especially during the day and laying it bed. It truly is a nice thing to have for me.

GS9 Most people only had a kinect because it came with the console, and I highly doubt everyone used it.. most people probably prefered to just use the controller.

Very true. The kinect came with the console and I only used it for the first week but then just disconnected it.
I tried selling it to gamestop but they only offered 25$ when they are selling it for $100. I just laughed it off when he gave the offer but he was dead serious, i wanted to kick his as s so bad that he was going to offer me $200 after i was done.

Reb Honestly, the only people I know to have a kinect only have one because it came free with the console

I know very few people with a kinect and if they have one it just gathers dust so completely useless .

Eli I don't even use Kinect and never would.

To be honest I think it's stupid.

Right.
It was a stupid idea with the 360 and still is. like Dismiss said ohh this is so gonna hurt the 7 people who use it. The kinect is the google+ of the xbox world. You don't want it but they force it on you and you still hate it.
