Fallout 4 PC can’t be installed from disc alone

4.2
If you buy Fallout 4 for PC on a disc, you’ll need to download a whack of content from Steam.

Fallout 4 won’t ship entirely on-disc for PC; you’ll need to activate the game on Steam to download the rest.

“You will still have to download from Steam. The disc doesn’t contain the entire game,” Bethesda boss Pete Hines said on Twitter.

Asked why the console version doesn’t require an extra download, Hines said it’s a combination of DRM and the limited storage space of DVDs.

“PC requires activation on Steam. Console does not. Console ship on Blu-rays, PC ships on DVDs,” the executive said in a followup tweet.

In yet another tweet, Hines confirmed that “piracy” is the reason why PC games require Steam activation. He received an angry reply, and responded with class.

“Well we’ve been doing it this way more or less for 10+ years. Seems to be doing ok. Lots of people bought Skyrim, Wolfenstein, etc,” Hines said.

Fallout 4 is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 10.

Extatic Not going to get it for PC but I will get it for Xbox one

But why? why would you put yourself through the horrible experience of playing on console. /s

There is no such thing as a horrible experience playing a damn game on a console.Hell,I'm sure not many people actually have a good enough PC to even play this game at 4k, but I don't really care. And yes, we don't get to play it at 4k. But at least on the Xbox One we still get mods.

People that don't pirate have to suffer because of pirates. Now, I don't really consider this suffering, people in this day and age almost all have internet. The main reason you have to download a lot through Steam is because of the DVD and not Blu-Ray situation. But, the DRM Piracy would have only really been an activation, and barely a big download.

So we suffer because of non-BluRay PC people, and Pirates.

I'm fine with this.

Why even buy on disks for PC. Steam even has preloading so Internet speed shouldn't be a problem. Comp I built with nzxt s340 doesn't even have an optical drive slot lol

Zyth I guess this a pretty good add-on.

Uhm what? Addon? Steam is not an addon lol.
