Evidence Points to PS2 Games on PS4 Thanks to Firmware Update 3.00Beta

Some rumours apparently don’t want to die. Yesterday one that was being reported hinted at the possibility of backwards compatibility on the Playstation 4, now further “proof” has been found.

If the rumour is found to be true, it appears that it may be coming the playstation 4 3.00 firmware update, which is currently in beta. PlaystationLifestyle.net are reporting that while the original source for the rumour has stated it was fake, more images are emerging showing more proof. As you can see in the image, the game shown War of the Monsters is yet another game said to be used to test this so-called backwards compatibility.

With no actual proof of this rumour being true other than the images taken from the Beta testing it is hard to really work out any legitimacy in the rumour at all. While there is logic in the Playstation 4 getting some form of backwards compatibility in the future, Sony have always downplayed this being the case, but could it be all a smokescreen to suddenly reveal it in a future firmware update like 3.00?

With Microsoft pushing Xbox One’s backwards compatibility which will be coming in November, the reaction from the fans has shown that this is something that they want. Sony holding back on this did seem questionable, but we have to remember that they have their Playstation Now service that they still need to push.

Wait! You're serious? Let me laugh harder.
Yes there were some brilliant games on the PS2 but the hardware limitations on the PS2 made them look ancient compared to today's games.
However before you go on a rant and I accidentally start a console war the Original Xbox wasn't so good either. The backwards compatibility war has began and finished with Xbox ONE playing 360 games only through emulation. There is no denying every console has it's ups and downs and yes some may prefer one over the other but playing 360 games on the ONE is better than playing PS2 games on the PS4.

I don't care for console wars, I was more into ps2 then i was xbox, that is all.

if I have more fun on a N64, my N64 is better. It's an opinion, as yours is. I play PC myself, and have almost 500 hours on totaled on a couple games, but again, you need to drink bleach; video games are solely about entertainment, and although I can play games in better graphics on PC, I may not be having as much fun... lol.

This guy, should get an award or something. Lol. I hate console wars, especially against PC... I mean I'm a programmer, I love PC! But, I know people who still would prefer a Wii U over a PC.
